Opportunity Description:

IRCOM is looking for 4-5 individuals to provide reception and assist with administrative support for the Newcomer Driver Education Program (NDEP) that operates out of 400B Logan Avenue. Responsibilities for this position include: • Greet walk-ins and provide some basic information to direct their inquiries • Be available to receive deliveries • Allow building access to regularly scheduled cleaners • Answer phone enquiries and take messages when appropriate • Check voicemails and respond with basic information • Check emails and respond with basic information If there is time and interest, volunteers may also: • Help make childcare snack • Keep the kitchen tidy • Play with the children in childcare • Prepare resources for IRCOM’s Newcomer Literacy Initiative classes • Prepare games for childcare During slow times, volunteers are also welcome to read, study, or some other activity to fill the time. Qualifications: • Good communication skills • Good interpersonal skills • Basic computer skills, including the use of MS Office and the internet • A high level of professionalism • Experience with customer service is an asset • Fluency in multiple languages is an asset Volunteers are asked to come for a 2.5 hour shift once a week from 9-11:30. Volunteers must clear a Child Abuse Registry Check and a Canadian Criminal Record Check. These checks may be conducted at no cost to the volunteer through IRCOM. Volunteer training will be provided. Reference sheets with basic information for clients will be provided. A supervisor will be onsite and available for questions at all times. This position will be available as of September 14th, 2015
