Opportunity Description:

Music Equals at the MCMA creates access to music programming for those that would normally not have it. One of our community programs this year is for disadvantaged youth that are in need of arts programming and good adult role models. We are offering a Youth and Mentor Community Ukulele program in partnership with Big Brothers and Big Sisters Winnipeg. We are recruiting 10-12 volunteers who are interested in working with youth, learning as a pair and providing support to young students. You will have the opportunity to either learn the basics of ukulele along with a child in a group setting, or refine your foundational skills while acting as a positive role model for them. Instruments are provided or you are welcome to bring your own. Classes will be held on Tuesday evenings for 10 weeks beginning January 11- March 15 2022 at 5:45pm-6:45pm. All classes will be held on site at Big Brothers Big Sisters, 532 Ellice Ave.  All volunteers will need to complete a volunteer application form with the MCMA, provide proof of full Covid 19 vaccination, and coordinate to complete your background checks for working with vulnerable populations. The background checks can be completed at Big Brothers Big Sisters with the assistance of the staff there.  Volunteer intake will be on a first come, first serve basis.
