Outreach volunteer — role description

What this role does

Outreach volunteers help Pet Aid Manitoba reach pet owners who need the program but don't know it exists. The focus is community visibility — social media, local events, and distribution of awareness materials.

Specific tasks

Social media support — share Pet Aid Manitoba posts on their own social accounts, comment to boost reach, and flag relevant community conversations (e.g. posts in Winnipeg pet owner Facebook groups where someone mentions vet costs)

Community tabling — staff a Pet Aid Manitoba table at local events (farmers markets, adoption fairs, dog-friendly events) — roughly 1–2 times per season when opportunities arise

Word of mouth — personally share the program with people in their network who have pets

Time commitment

Roughly 2–4 hours per month. Tabling shifts are 3–4 hours each and are opt-in.

What we're looking for

Lives in Winnipeg or the surrounding area

Active on social media (any platform) or has strong community ties

Comfortable talking to strangers about the program

Has a genuine connection to pets or animal welfare

What's not in this role

Reviewing applications or making funding decisions

Handling any financial information

Making commitments on behalf of the organization

Reporting

Outreach volunteers check in with the founder once a month — a brief message summarizing what they did. No formal reporting required.
