Established in 1984, Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata is a Grandmother in the Winnipeg family of community service-providers with more than 30 years of experience working with Indigenous families. We are community people helping other community people reclaim our inherent roles and responsibilities as Indigenous caregivers and the most important teachers of our children.
The name Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata translates from Ojibway into the phrase, “we all work together to help one another.”

Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre believes in accountability, transparency and effective use of resources. For us, this means working together with our families, our partners, funders and governments to create community based solutions that build local capacity for self-care.

Together Project connects government-assisted refugees and refugee claimants with volunteers to build stronger, more integrated communities in Winnipeg.
Our Welcome Group Program serves newcomers that face significant challenges to successful integration in their new communities. These include language and culture barriers, health issues, unemployment, and the lack of social connections.
Together Project provides a platform for community engagement to address these challenges, ensuring that it both complements the work of existing service providers and is tailored to the needs of individual newcomer families. Volunteers will work to address specific priorities identified by their matched household, through which both newcomers and volunteers will also have an opportunity to get to know each other and build social connections.
Together Project's work is supported by evidence-based program evaluation and research to inform and improve our impact.
Together Project is a charitable initiative of the MakeWay Shared Platform.
MCC Thrift mission is to support Mennonite Central Committee supporting relief, development and peace projects locally and around the world. MCC Thrift shops are community hubs offering low cost items and supporting community building through vibrant volunteer communities.
At Volunteer Winnipeg, we take pride in linking people with local nonprofit community organizations, supporting persons with disabilities, new Canadians, corporations and professionals connect to organizations in and around the city, helping individuals develop skills to advance their careers, and developing knowledge resources that support effective and efficient volunteer capacity.
This April, Winnipeg plays host to the 2018 Save-on-foods Canadian Ringette Championships. Our success hinges on the support and participation of our wonderful community. The championship is from April 8 - 14, 2018.
We are looking for volunteers to fill all types of positions for our event starting at the Opening Ceremonies on Sunday, April 8 at the Manitoba Centennial Concert Hall, continuing throughout the week at BellMTS IcePlex and Seven Oaks Arena and culminating on Saturday, April 14 with the Championship Medal Games at BellMTS Place and Closing Banquet at RBC Convention Centre.
Volunteer duties may include:
· Event set up
· Ushering
· Selling tournament passes
· Selling 50-50
· Drivers
· Penalty Box Gate Openers
· Statisticians
· Announcers (English and French)
Swimmingly: One-on-One for Exceptional Needs, formerly Manitoba SwimAbility, is a non-profit, charitable organization that aims to improve the lives of youth with exceptional needs through affordable and accessible one on one swimming and water safety instruction.
Our Vision is that all youth in Manitoba with exceptional needs are given the opportunity to learn to swim in an inclusive environment, thus reducing water related accidents.

15 Member nations competing in these championships over 10 days in Winnipeg.
