As a Community Coordinator, you would help recruit people to be a part of our team, actively participate in meetings and events, form partnerships with schools and organizations, and learn more about climate change through our website. Description: Position Summary The Director position is a volunteer role on the Board of Directors. The volunteer Board of Directors, on behalf of all Manitobans and visitors to our province, provides overall leadership, policy development, and strategic direction to the Manitoba Children’s Museum. Nominees should have demonstrated leadership at the local or national level, possess demonstrated excellence in their own field of expertise, and be enthusiastic about volunteering their support to the Manitoba Children’s Museum and its future. The Board Nominating Committee is seeking individuals with priority given to the following skills and expertise: Lawyer Early Years Educator Arts, Culture, and/or Heritage Professional Strategic-minded individuals with the ability to think big picture and long-term Ability to make a contribution of time and energy through active participation on the Board and Board Committee(s) The Board is committed to diversity, equity and inclusion and considers nominations from under-represented groups an asset. Volunteer Opportunity (Future Leaders aged 18-30 years) Volunteer for the Empathy Squad to make a difference in your community through the power of storytelling. In the midst of global upheaval, and the search for social, class, and racial justice, we are looking for volunteers to generate empathy-building dialogue through the collection of stories and interviews. Oral storytelling forges connections between people and ideas, makes information more accessible, and helps us understand the ties that bind us. Oral history nuances the stories of the past and present, helps us understand how communities experience history, and allows us to learn together on the path towards a shared future. Amplify voices, centre overlooked stories, and celebrate the unsung heroes in your community. You'll have the chance to collect stories, learn podcasting skills, meet new people from different walks of life, and collaborate with future leaders across the country. Come spark change, one story at a time. Participants will: Discover artful ways to volunteer in their community; Learn interview and recording techniques, narrative shaping, and audio-editing skills; Gain skills in community engagement through oral-history collection; Enhance readiness for leadership roles and community participation; Grow empathy from coast to coast through community-building dialogue. Remote After-School Mentor

Description: Volunteer mentors will remotely assist clients in our Remote After-School Mentorship Program for newcomer and refugee children and youth in Grades 1 through 12. Here are more details: Dates: Sept- June (Monday to Thursday) Time: 4:00-8:00PM Ages of Clients: Grades 1 - 12 Volunteer Shifts: Volunteers can volunteer from 4:00-6:30 PM Volunteers can volunteer in the morning from 6:00-8:30 PM Volunteers can volunteer in the afternoon from 4:00-8:30 PM Location: Remotely (Microsoft Teams) · Volunteer Mentor Role and Tasks: Provide tutoring support in various subject areas including but not limiting to English, math, science, social studies, health education etc. Assist newcomer and refugee children and youth develop and foster positive relationships with adults in a safe environment Provide support to help develop, practice, and improve English Language Skills Supervise clients during one-on-one meetings and communicate all issues with SWIS staff Volunteer mentors are required to participate in a debrief at the end of their shift Volunteer mentors will be paired with clients and assigned to a breakout room on the video conferencing platform to provide one-on-one and/or small group support based on their preferred subjects and areas they feel comfortable supporting clients with.
