Bud, Spud, and Chicken Fundraising Dinner (Manitoba Brain Injury Association)

The 2020 Bud, Spud & Chicken Dinner is a fundraising event attracting over 250
guests in support of acquired brain injury survivors. This event brings together
ABI survivors, families, stakeholders and community members to raise awareness
and funds for MBIA services.
This event offers tremendous opportunity to positively impact the lives of people
living with the consequences of brain injury as an invisible disability.
Funds raised will support the vital programs offered by MBIA to promote
independent living and continued access to our programming at MBIA

New Canadian Skate Program (West End BIZ)

Our New Canadian Skate Program is just around the corner! We are so excited to have this program running again this year and for everyone to come out and learn how to skate.

Starting January 10th, every Friday from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. we will be holding a FREE skate program for adults. The program will run for 10 weeks and will finish on March 13th. Helmets and skates are provided!

Illuminate 150 (Manitoba 150)

Join Manitoba 150 on December 14 at the Manitoba Legislative grounds with a free family-friendly display of breathtaking illumination, exhilarating snowmobile acrobatics, and celebration of our amazing province at the height of its winter splendor.

3:00pm – Outdoor programming and have a visit with Santa at the Manitoba Legislative Building Holiday Open House
Gourmet hot chocolate and coffee, light installations, snowtubing, snowshoe obstacle course, DJ, and more!
5:30pm – Flip of the Switch to Illuminate the Manitoba Legislative Building and grounds
Don’t blink or you might miss the exciting moment when 300,000 LED lights turn on to illuminate Manitoba’s capital building
6:05pm – Aerial acrobatic snowmobile performance featuring X Games athletes
Illuminate 150 light installations will remain in place from December 14 to July 2020.

Hold your breath as the flick of a switch turns on 300,000 LED lights followed by a high-flying snowmobile acrobatic show!

Billy Gardell - Star of Mike & Molly (Club Regent Casino)

Emmy nominated actor and comedian Billy Gardell starred in the CBS Hit television series, MIKE & MOLLY as Officer Mike Biggs from 2010-2016. MIKE & MOLLY continues to air in syndication to this day. As a followup to the hit CBS series, Billy has taken a dramatic turn in the CMT series Sun Records as Colonel Tom Parker, the infamous manager of Elvis Presley. The drama series was inspired by the Broadway musical.

In 2016 he received a daytime EMMY nomination as best gameshow host for Monopoly Millionaires Club.

Before Mike & Molly, Gardell co-starred in the critically acclaimed television series “Lucky.” His other television credits include “Yes Dear” and “Judging Amy,” on the Network, “My Name is Earl,” “The Practice,” “Monk” and “Gary the Rat.”

He made his major motion picture debut alongside Anthony Quinn and Sylvester Stallone in “Avenging Angelo,” and had a memorable scene with Billy Bob Thornton in the Cohen Brother’s film “Bad Santa.” He also appeared in “You, Me & Dupree.”

As a standup, Gardell took the long road to Hollywood, stopping at every small town lounge, military base and comedy club along the way. His comedy act took him to Los Angeles where his dedication to acting, along with touring as a stand-up comedian, allowed him to grow consistently in both arenas. His stand-up show is a powerhouse. His grounded, down-to-earth point of view strikes a strong chord with American audiences. Stories about his rough childhood, wild adolescence and new family life are executed with the skill of a master craftsman.

As a standup comic, his comedy specials, "Billy Gardell: Halftime," premiered on Comedy Central and "Billy Gardell Presents Road Dogs" premiered on Showtime.

Shaun Majumder (Club Regent Casino)

Host and Gemini Award-winning actor/comedian Shaun Majumder hails from Burlington, Newfoundland (population 350). He starred in the Farrelly Brothers Fox comedy Unhitched in 2008 before his Comedy Central Presents special debuted; he’s since appeared on 24, Cedric the Entertainer Presents, and is a cast member of This Hour Has 22 Minutes. His documentary series Majumder Manor told the story of his dream to transform his home town into a high-end, sustainable tourist destination and ran for 2 seasons on the W Network. Film credits include Harold and Kumar go to White Castle, The Ladies Man, Pushing Tin, Purpose and Bob Funk, and he’s hosted the Just for Laughs Comedy festival TV series for three seasons. He currently splits his time between Los Angeles, Halifax and Newfoundland.

Tom Cochrane's Mad World Tour with Red Rider (Club Regent Casino)

After Iconic musician Tom Cochrane's early beginnings as a folk-based singer/songwriter playing the coffeehouses of Toronto's famed Yorkville scene in the early '70s, Tom became the driving force with the adventurous rockers Red Rider prior to achieving massive international success (over 3 million units world wide and rare diamond-sales status at home) with the breakthrough 1991 album Mad Mad World and its anthemic hit Life Is A Highway, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year! With his other recordings combined he has sold over 6 million world wide. Over the course of this long and illustrious career, now spanning more than 40 years, the pride of Lynn Lake, Manitoba has covered more terrain than the Franklin expedition.

He has continued to create potent new material (5 more recordings and several separate single releases since Mad Mad World ) while cementing his place in the hearts of Canadians through passionate crowd-pleasing performances from coast to coast and his unwavering work on behalf of humanitarian causes and organizations.
