Heritage Winnipeg is a non-profit charitable organization, established in 1978 as a cooperative effort between the City of Winnipeg, the Province of Manitoba and the Heritage Canada Foundation (now the National Trust for Canada) to promote the restoration, rehabilitation and preservation of Winnipeg’s built environment.
Aboriginal Support
Established in 1984, Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata is a Grandmother in the Winnipeg family of community service-providers with more than 30 years of experience working with Indigenous families. We are community people helping other community people reclaim our inherent roles and responsibilities as Indigenous caregivers and the most important teachers of our children.
The name Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata translates from Ojibway into the phrase, “we all work together to help one another.”
Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre is a strength and value-based family resource organization delivering community-based programs and services within the philosophy embodied in our name. Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre believes in accountability, transparency and effective use of resources. For us, this means working together with our families, our partners, funders and governments to create community based solutions that build local capacity for self-care.

At Volunteer Winnipeg, we take pride in linking people with local nonprofit community organizations, supporting persons with disabilities, new Canadians, corporations and professionals connect to organizations in and around the city, helping individuals develop skills to advance their careers, and developing knowledge resources that support effective and efficient volunteer capacity.
Nextgen Empowerment Foundation is a newly established to empower underserved communities through education, capacity building, mentorship, and community-led initiatives that promote health, economic opportunity, environmental stewardship, and sustainable social development.
ImmUnity Canada has been a registered charity (BN#: Â 816034276RR0001) since 1997, and its staff and volunteers are dedicated to empowering people with Primary Immunodeficiency (PI) to live well through education, advocacy and building community.
There are approximately 500 known PIs, which are genetic disorders where part of the immune system is either missing, or not functioning properly. This leaves people prone to infections, and fighting them off is much harder. Many people with PI also have a predisposition towards co-existent auto-immune disorders, where the immune system targets healthy tissue, leading to inflammation and further ill-health.
Our volunteers have varied roles, including: board members, medical advisory committees, support group facilitators, Facebook moderators, patient story-tellers, and of course, our much valued event volunteers.
About FIXT POINT’s previous work:
To date, we've interviewed over 3,000 Canadians from every province and territory in almost 200 communities in our storymobiles (mobile recording studio on wheels); edited and posted hundreds of oral histories on our storymap; produced two seasons of a TV/web series for TVO; and, most recently, we were awarded Touring Artist of the Year from the Canadian Arts Presenting Association (CAPACOA).

Take a Pain Check Foundation is a Canadian registered, international youth-led community and non-profit organization founded in self-advocacy to empower youth with rheumatic diseases. They host bi-weekly podcasts, run ambassador programs for health professionals and youth, pilot rheumatic-related events, feature stories on their blog platform and lead monthly Joint Chat Rheum hangouts.
Our Mission:  Take a Pain Check’s aims to empower youth and young adults impacted by rheumatic disease to advocate for themselves and to create a supportive, safe, and inclusive community where individuals feel understood.
​Our Vision: Through this youth led initiative our vision is that all youth and young adults feel supported in their journey with rheumatic illness.
Parkinson Canada is the definitive voice for the Parkinson’s community in Canada. Our purpose is to transform the lives of people living with Parkinson’s. We do this through research leading to better treatments and the end of Parkinson’s, advocacy bringing the voices of Parkinson’s to the forefront and support that helps people live well with Parkinson’s through education and services. A national registered charity, Parkinson Canada operates through the generosity of donors and is an accredited organization under the Imagine Canada Standards Program.
Together Project connects government-assisted refugees and refugee claimants with volunteers to build stronger, more integrated communities in Winnipeg.
Our Welcome Group Program serves newcomers that face significant challenges to successful integration in their new communities. These include language and culture barriers, health issues, unemployment, and the lack of social connections.
Together Project provides a platform for community engagement to address these challenges, ensuring that it both complements the work of existing service providers and is tailored to the needs of individual newcomer families. Volunteers will work to address specific priorities identified by their matched household, through which both newcomers and volunteers will also have an opportunity to get to know each other and build social connections.
Together Project's work is supported by evidence-based program evaluation and research to inform and improve our impact.
Together Project is a charitable initiative of the MakeWay Shared Platform.
